Coffee
French press
Use coarsely ground beans, like sea-salt or bread crumbs.
Lazy method
- Pour 180g of boiling water per 10g of coffee grounds.
- 4 minute steep.
- Plunge and serve.
The more elaborate Hoffman method
- Pour 500g of boiling water over 30g of coffee grounds.
- Wait 5 minutes.
- Stir the grounds to break the crust at the top.
- Scoop foam and any floating grounds from the press.
- Wait five minutes to allow the remaining grounds to settle.
- Plunge the filter only to the top of the liquid. This prevents disturbing the settled grounds.
- Serve.
This supposedly results in a cleaner cup of coffee with less sludge.
